 D DENNISON

Although I have just stepped inside the forties, I am enjoying life to a new degree… there are few words to describe my new journey… I have found a peace in me and it has taken flight…

My new journey has given me many new gifts including a wonderful man, maybe you have heard me speak of him, James, he encourages me to grow and challenges me when I feel I can’t conquer a self perceived obstacle.

I am still the sometimes impatient mother of four proud of each child that has graced me with their love… Zachariah is a chef in Fort Collins with great potential to reach the moon with his pizzazz! Natasha is pure sunshine, she will join the Navy next year after taking a few months to reset her life after graduation in May 2008, Ashley is a vibrant young lady with softball and math on her mind, at least mom likes to believe that is all she is thinking about. And Colton, the baby is growing up… he continues to improve and thrive in school and still loves the pig skin.

You are most likely more interested in what makes me tick than “The James” and the kids, but quite honestly, they are what help me be me…

I still believe strongly in the Jaycees, but am no longer an active member, I am a rooster! J (um, I am over 40) If you are between the ages of 18 and 40, I strongly recommend the Jaycees, what a way to meet people and experience new things.

I am a strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity, last spring James and I participated in a “Dancing with the Stars” event to help raise money for this organization, we learned how to Salsa and “competed” for the top spot with three other couples, although very exciting and fun, I was very nervous.  I continue to work with all the great people at Habitat and hope to become more involved in the coming months. There is nothing better or more rewarding than helping a family “build” their own home.

To catch you up on my background… I have been in radio for 23 years… attending broadcasting school in Minneapolis, I graduated high school from Chaska High, 32 miles Southwest of the twin cities. I have worked in North Dakota, Florida and in Colorado. I have been with K99 and its parent company for the better part of 12 years, I was the original “news girl”, relinquishing Todd of his news duties so he could become a greater clucker for the “Guess what the Chicken is Singing” contest every Friday morning with the Good Morning Guys… not really, but it was the start of a great new way to enjoy the morning guys. (Catch Brian Gary, Todd Harding and Susan Moore weekday mornings from 5-9)

I love to do commercials… write them… “perform” them… even listen to them, always have… I was the one telling everyone to be quiet when I was a kid so I could listen to the commercials… I know, I am a weirdo!

I love to volunteer and get really nervous when I introduce a concert or have to speak in front of a crowd.

My interests include bicycling, sitting in a hammock, traveling, gardening and hanging out in Old Town Fort Collins (people watching and eating are my favorite old town activities!)

Favorite all time quote: “It’s dead easy to die, it’s the Hell served for breakfast that is hard”.

Favorite TV: the news, the Today Show and Medium

All in all life is good… I love my family… I love my job and I look forward to tomorrow everyday.
